Welcome to The Nigel Hunter Nursery Garden website

The Nigel Hunter Nursery is a part of Gloucester Royal Hospital that helps children up to the age of three who have disabilities, as well as offering advice to parents.

In 2007 the overgrown 'jungle' outside the Nursery was transformed by Bovis and some of The King's School Gloucester's pupils into a beautiful sensory garden.

This website has been set up so that you can see the work that has already taken place within the garden and so you can keep up to date with it as it progresses too. You can get in touch with me at seb@drwhofigures.co.uk

Our blog will be updated with every visit I make to the garden – most Monday afternoons – and from time to time we will also have messages from other people involved with the garden.

Our history page allows you to see how the garden has developed up to the point of me starting my blog.

To leave comments on the blog and history page you will need to register (see left hand bar). This is free, and as a bonus you will also get all blog messages automatically sent to your email. (You can unsubscribe from them though – don’t worry!)

Please also feel free to contact me with comments and suggestions using the link above.

Enjoy your stay!

Seb

Firstly – apologies for the lateness of this update. However I am pleased to announce that the garden is in wonderful shape and looking better than ever.

Every week things improve even more and it’s wonderful to see just how colourful and full it’s all looking. A massive help has been the installation of a tap and hose (although it did take us a rather embarrassingly long amount of time to put the hose together…)

The garden is also now home to a great selection of “tacky” treats from the seaside – lots of twirling colourful things! I think it’s true to say that no garden is complete without some tacky toys! All we need now is a gnome…!

There are so many plants the garden is positively bursting in bloom. Flowers and colour erupt all over the ground. We’re going to plant a few more things here and there, especially some crawlers up the railings, but it’s doing brilliantly.

Neither the arbour or bench are in place yet, we need some expert help for that, but that should be sorted soon.

Obviously summer holidays are round the corner and whilst the watering will be taken care of by the nursery we will be going in a few times to do the rest.

So that’s an update on the garden and to edit an old saying slightly - ‘things can only get even better’…

Please note – pictures should be going up later tonight and things will be changed (such as the picture at the top!).
